Memories

Why do we remember some small things or events and not others? Why do certain sentences, quotes, and or something someone said resonate and stick with us even though we only read or heard them once?

I can’t answer that because we don’t get to choose what does or does not resonate with us. These memories are etched into our mind and soul for a reason.

I believe these memories act as directional signposts in our lives to guide us toward our purpose. Instead of a left arrow to indicate the direction of the road ahead, our “signpost memory” might reach out to us and play back a memory or memories when we are faced with multiple routes to take in our lives.

How do we know that these memories are here to guide us? I don’t know; however, I believe that if we have walked uprightly according to the laws of the Most High then He will supply us with the correct memories to guide us because, “He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous,” (Job 36:7 KJV) and “the integrity of the upright shall guide them.” (Proverbs 11:3 KJV).

Pay attention to what sticks around and meditate on these memories. In the end, it’s all in your hands to decide what memories are valid signposts and which are not.
